For this fortnight I have 100 books which were added between October 2012 to January 2013. As you can see, a lot of contemporary fiction adds during that time, most of which I have now removed since I don’t feel like reading contemporary fiction much, anymore.

Culling time!
If you see any books you loved on the cull list and think I should read them, I AM SO SORRY but I can’t! I read through a hundred synopses for this post, and depending on various factors like availability of book, intent to commit to long series, etc – I know I don’t want to read them anymore.
Started with : 2203 books in TBR
Ended with : 2114 books in TBR
What I took off the list
No demon or mermaid books this time, but historical fiction had started to make an appearance on my shelves. Also removed a lot of dystopia, and some series books (a couple were the last books in their series but I don’t remember anything so I just removed them instead of re-reading those series)
Contemporary fiction
Historical fiction/Steampunk
Mystery/Thriller
Urban fantasy – Vampires
Urban fantasy – Fae
Urban fantasy – Angels/Demons
Urban fantasy – Mermaids
Urban fantasy – Werewolves/Dragons/Shifters
Urban fantasy – Mythology/Witches/Paranormal romance
Horror
High fantasy
Retelling
Time Travel
Science Fiction – Dystopia
Zombies
Space/Aliens
Not continuing the series
I can’t invest time in re-reading these series again….
What I’m keeping
Some are from authors I read before, but most have stayed because of high ratings among Goodreads friends.
Good on you for removing so many! I personally have around 500 books on my Goodreads “interested in” shelve and feel very overwhelmed by that number, so I can only imagine how you feel. Sometimes I feel really unsure about removing books off my list but then I remember they have been on there for YEARS… which says enough. Good luck with future posts in this series!
Yeah I think it’s because all of these have been on my TBR for 7+ years (god such a different time!) which makes it easier to remove them. I think the real challenge will be removing the ones I added just a couple of years ago 😅
