June 2018 Wrap-Up

Half the year has gone by and it still feels so unreal. This month had been one of a lot of changes – I finished up my work in my current lab, moved back to my home country, and am right now adjusting to taking a real break, for once. I had hoped my reading wouldn’t suffer but the truth is that I was so overwhelmed by everything else, I couldn’t devote time to reading and blogging as often as I could. It was mostly me catching up in small snatches of time, keeping the blog semi-active. But now that I’m back at my mom’s, and have more time, I hope make change that I can sustain, even with any further changes in my life.

So about my reading this month:

I did not have enough time so I mostly focused on graphic novels and audiobooks this month, but I still managed to read a total of 21 books – 12 full-length novels (5 of which were rereads), 8 graphic novels and 1 short story. Most of the (new) books were mediocre in enjoyment, as you can see in the break-up below

Must read

Every Exquisite Thing by Cassandra Clare Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

Pretty good

Ruthless Magic by Megan Crewe Puddin' by Julie Murphy Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneau Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 12 by Mizuho Kusanagi (草凪みずほ) Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 13 by Mizuho Kusanagi (草凪みずほ) A Thousand Beginnings and Endings by Ellen Oh

Page Trackers Challenge

In the Page Trackers challenge, I read 6066 pages in May. [My main updates are on a Twitter thread]

Pages left: 70,876

With half the year gone, and still over 2/3rd of my goal left, it seems I need to speed up!

Beat the Backlist

Progress: 68/100 books published before 2018

Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2) Dividing Eden (Dividing Eden, #1) Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) The Last of August (Charlotte Holmes #2) The Raven King (The Raven Cycle, #4) Labyrinth Lost (Brooklyn Brujas, #1) A Fistful of Charms The Hollows, #4)

I had only one truly from my backlist (Diving Eden), and the rest were rereads. I’m thinking of reorganizing the list on the readathon page to reflect rereads and new reads separately, since now there is no competition for points
