Half the year has gone by and it still feels so unreal. This month had been one of a lot of changes – I finished up my work in my current lab, moved back to my home country, and am right now adjusting to taking a real break, for once. I had hoped my reading wouldn’t suffer but the truth is that I was so overwhelmed by everything else, I couldn’t devote time to reading and blogging as often as I could. It was mostly me catching up in small snatches of time, keeping the blog semi-active. But now that I’m back at my mom’s, and have more time, I hope make change that I can sustain, even with any further changes in my life.
So about my reading this month:
I did not have enough time so I mostly focused on graphic novels and audiobooks this month, but I still managed to read a total of 21 books – 12 full-length novels (5 of which were rereads), 8 graphic novels and 1 short story. Most of the (new) books were mediocre in enjoyment, as you can see in the break-up below

I raised the goals to the highest level (21+ books – Grand Slam), which is surprising for me since I thought I would hardly read any contemporary this year! And with that, I can consider this challenge complete.

Clockwork Prince is set in the Shadowhunter universe that has many magical creatures like vampires, faeries, werewolves and demons, and similarly, A Fistful of Charms is set in an alternate present of Cincinnati (and Michigan) where the aforementioned creatures exist. Glass Sword has powered people. Labyrinth Lost, while primarily set in Brooklyn, has witches and takes us on a tour of Los Lagos, an in-between world for souls and exiled witches. The Raven King is a fabulistic story that has witches, psychics, psychopomps and dream thieves.
