Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday banner

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl wherein each week bloggers list out their Top Ten.

We all have unmanageable TBR piles and I have a very long virtual TBR on Goodreads which makes me sweat whenever I think of culling or organizing. I hate to admit, but there are many books on there that I have been intending to read since 5-6 years.

So, obviously, making this list about those books could be as easy as picking the first ten in that list, but I thought, better to go with hyped/notable/interesting books that I still haven’t gotten around to reading; I’ll try to limit it to around 10. Let’s dive into my TBR, folks! (List is chronological wrt when it first popped on my list)

TenTen by Gretchen McNeil

I love the author, and have read almost every book of hers, except this one (and Possess but I am not so interested in that one). I keep adding it to readathon TBRs but then I somehow don’t manage to read it. And this one actually sounds like awesome!

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

Yes, I know – it is about time! Like, there is even a movie adaptation in the works. I really should get to it. Someday sooon!

Black City (Black City, #1)Black City by Elizabeth Richards

Okay this one I am keeping off my sights for now – I am already disappointed with a recent dystopic romance I read, so I will need time to come to this one.

Inside Out (Insider, #1)Inside Out by Maria V Snyder

Another author I like a lot, but I am currently hoping to finish with the (restarted) Study series first, so this one will have to wait. I generally don’t read two open series by an author at the same time.

United We Spy (Gallagher Girls, #6)United We Spy by Ally Carter

Can you believe it has been years and I still did not read the last book in the Gallagher Girls series? (That’s a trick question – of course you can believe it: that’s literally my MO) I hope to rectify it this year, though!

Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy, #1)Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

I have yet to read a Gothic book by someone other than April Genevieve Tucholke. This one should have come before any of those, though.

Mind Games (Mind Games, #1)Mind Games by Kiersten White

I first fell in love with her writing in And I Darken but this book has been languishing on my TBR for years.

Burn for Burn (Burn for Burn, #1)Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

I am planning to read it this year, once I get the first in series (I already have the other two)

The Archived (The Archived, #1)The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Me? Not read a Schwab book? This one had come way way before I met her writing in This Savage Song, but now I hesitate to start it because it is not a complete series and probably won’t ever be completed. What do you think? Should I read it anyway? Will it leave me on a cliffhanger?

The Lying Game (The Lying Game, #1)The Lying Game by Sara Shepard

Can Sara Shepard like, chill, slow down and let me catch up with her long series about terrible girls being terrible to each other? I barely finished the first arc of Pretty Little Liars, but never had the willpower to finish the series completely. And now she has The Amateurs, The Perfectionists and little old me can’t keep up with all these similar plotlines!!!!

What books have you avoided not read for the longest? Have you read any of these?! If yes, tell me whether I should read it right away / scream at me for having not read it yet

  1. Oh, gosh. I haven’t read any of these either! I read the first book of the Ally Carter spy series a bit ago and put the rest of the series on my to-read list, but they’ve just been sitting there! So many books, so little time. :p

  2. Great list! You can read The Archived and The Unbound, she wrapped the story greatly, even if the third book wasn’t released 🙂 It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger (and there’s a little novella after the Unbound).

  3. I really enjoyed the Burn For Burn trilogy, and I hope you will too! I’d recommend picking up The Archived and leaving it on a cliffhanger – I’ve only been able to read book one because that was the only one they had in the library, but it was great (even though I wish I could carry on with the next installment).

    Here’s my TTT!

  4. Oooh, I liked Ten! Black City too, though I never read past that book in the series. I absolutely need to read The Darkest Minds. It’s been on my TBR for a long time as well!

  5. It can be so hard to get around to sequels, so I can totally see why there are so many of them here on this list! I’ve also been meaning to try The Darkest Mind series forever as well. I hope you can get around to reading these soon!
