Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn’t Get To

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish wherein each week bloggers list out their Top Ten. This week it is about the ones that got away – the books I wanted to read in 2017 but somehow ended up not reading. Actually, a month-long challenge going on right now is about this very thing – it is called the January Jam Jar and it is about reading books that were on your TBRs in 2017, and I thought well since my TBR for that challenge has exactly 10 books, it is perfect for this week’s prompt!

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons, #1) Defy the Stars (Constellation, #1) Blacksouls (Blackhearts, #2) Midnight Jewel (The Glittering Court, #2) Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices, #2) The Crown's Fate (The Crown's Game, #2) A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3) Rosemarked (Rosemarked #1) One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns, #2)

Now firstly you gotta know I have been sooooo uber serious about this challenge, and have already read Rosemarked and Wonder Woman: Warbringer from these. Next up for reading are Midnight Jewel and then Strange the Dreamer.

As for the others, well, I am not too hyped about A Court of Wings and Ruin – I was excited until I heard a couple of weeks before release that it is problematic. Since I had already pre-ordered the book and it arrived, I have it sitting on my shelf and I have resigned myself to reading it.

Another one sitting on my shelves is Lord of Shadows, which is mainly because of its size and me not finding good time to read it. One Dark Throne – I have a galley but I missed out on reading it, and now I have so many other frontlist galleys clamoring for my attention I thought the best way to motivate me to read it ASAP is to put it in a challenge.

And finally, I have yet to get the books for The Crown’s Fate, Defy the Stars and Blacksouls but since I’m planning to get ebooks for them anyway (trying not to buy any print books this year) I’ll do that when their number comes up from the jar.

  1. I’m so impressed that you’ve already managed to read some of the books on your TBR! I loved ACOTAR but started hearing rumblings of it being problematic around the release of book two, so I’ve also been hesitant to continue with the series. Looking forward to seeing what you think of it.

  2. I’ve read several of Richelle Mead’s books, but haven’t read The Glittering Court series yet. It is on my to read list! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

  3. Wonder Woman and also Rosemarked were two that came out and I didn’t get a chance to read either… but I fully intend to whenever I can get my hands on a copy!

  4. OH man, I didn’t read a ton of these. I will say ACOWAR wasn’t written nearly as well as the other two, bad rep and problematic elements aside. Lord of Shadows is probably my favorite from this list, but I can understand not reading it if you wanted to put off waiting for the third!
