Wrap-Up: The ones that got away

Yep, time for the challenges I failed, folks. I’ll deliver the bad news first. Even I, Supreme Reader Extraordinaire and Marchioness of Reading Challenges have failed myself and my books on some occasions.

Then & Now Reading Challenge

Then & Again Reading ChallengeYou would think, considering this was a reading created by myself, I wouldn’t flake out. But nooooo, I failed. I kept this running till May, I think, but ultimately had to suspend it because

  • I hadn’t read the classics required
  • I did not read the retellings required

However, it was still fun to have the monthly chats, even if sometimes scheduling conflicts and timezones meant they had to be delayed. I won’t be continuing this in 2018, as a year-long challenge, at least. I might revive it for a month or two as a month-long challenge, but I haven’t planned anything out yet.

Blogger Shame Review Challenge

Blogger Shame 2016Goals: 9/52 past due galleys

I could only get to 9 galleys that were on my backlist (at least 4 months past due). Sad, but I’m doing this in 2018 too, with a more manageable goal. I had tried to keep it like at least one backlist galley a week but well, frontlist galleys are too attractive. HELP!

Dystopia Reading Challenge

Dystopia Reading ChallengeGoals: 16/26 dystopian books
2017 definitely wasn’t the year of dystopias for me. Even though, I must admit, the few I did read were good. But on the genre, as a whole, I think I am over it. I don’t really seek out dystopia with that ferocity anymore.

Series Enders Challenge

Goals: 15/26 series enders

Yeah, so I tried to end a lot of series, but some of them I did start this year too, so I did not exactly fulfill my original goal of completing ongoing series with priority.

A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic #3) Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity, #2) The Crimson Crown (Seven Realms, #4) The Ship Beyond Time (The Girl From Everywhere, #2)

The Master Magician (The Paper Magician Trilogy, #3) A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) Heroine Worship (Heroine Complex, #2) The Edge of the Abyss (The Abyss Surrounds Us, #2) Ferocious (Vicarious, #2) The Silence (The Six #3) Ringer (Replica, #2) Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #3) Rise of Fire (Reign of Shadows, #2) The Gauntlet (The Cage, #3) End of Days (Penryn & the End of Days, #3)

Historical Romance Challenge

Historical Romance Reading ChallengeGoals: 8/26 historical romances
In my defense, romance is not really a genre I seek out. On the other hand, I did take up this challenge for that very reason. I failed, BIG TIME! Also, I think only two of these have romance as the main element; the others are mainly fantasy/sci-fi or what not.
Now I Rise (The Conqueror's Saga, #2) The Turn (The Hollows, # 0) Jane Eyre
Chainbreaker (Timekeeper, #2) Deathless The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Guide, #1) The Paper Magician (The Paper Magician Trilogy, #1) All the Crooked Saints

Contemporary Romance Challenge

Contemporary Romance Reading ChallengeGoals: 25/26
Okay this one was super hard to do, because I forgot the original parameters of the challenge and thought I was ahead, but then at the end of November I realized – wait, books with fantasy/sci-fi/mystery/thriller elements don’t count for this challenge and there went about a third of the books, because I rarely read a purely romance book! (Ah, I need to try to read some in 2018)

Eliza and Her Monsters Goodbye Days

Vicarious (Vicarious, #1) Wallbanger (Cocktail, #1) Ferocious (Vicarious, #2) Beauty Queens Geekerella Pretty Fierce Seeking Mansfield The Color Project Deacon Locke Went to Prom Windfall Looking for Group The End of Our Story Dead Little Mean Girl Solitaire American Street #famous The One Memory of Flora Banks Lying Out Loud Because of the Sun One Moment Biggest Flirts Rules of Rain My Fairy Godmother is a Drag Queen

2017 Discussion Challenge

Historical Romance Reading Challenge Yeah this one I failed hard. Like, 0, quit at starting point, failed!
