Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish wherein each week bloggers list out their Top Ten.
And winter means curling up in blankets because it is too freaking cold to go outside! (To be fair, though, I make similar complaints in other seasons just so I can remain at home to spend my weekends reading). This winter, I will be reading many books, but these gems are the ones I am most excited for:
Chainbreaker by Tara Sim
Releases on: January 2
I’m so excited for the sequel to Timekeeper. Also, part of the story is going to be set in India so I am looking forward to it.
Everless by Sara Holland
Releases on: January 2
This sounds like a YA fantasy version of the movie In Time, in which time is used as a currency. I was so intrigued by the concept in that movie, and wished there was a book about it. It isn’t the same, since this is like a fantasy kingdom or something, but hey, I’ll take it.
S.T.A.G.S. by M A Bennett
Releases on: February 13
Private school mysteries are to die for. The synopsis reminds me of one of my favorite contemporary mystery series, Private, by Kate Brian.
The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shaun David Hutchinson
Releases on: February 6
Virgin birth. Miracles. And I have heard it is going to have an f/f romance. Sign me up!
The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross
Releases on: February 6
Political intrigue. Royal battles. My kind of fantasy, basically!
The Traitor Prince by C J Redwine
Releases on: February 13
Redwine’s third installment in the Ravenspire series is a retelling of Prince and the Pauper and the False Prince. And naturally, all that it needs to get me interested is the word ‘retelling’.
Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman
Releases on: February 27
Hartman is coming out with another dragon book – about a cross-dressing girl and her dragon protector, and something. (Honesty, I squealed at that awesome cover and the mention of dragons and added it to my TBR)
Inkmistress by Audrey Coulthurst
Releases on: March 6
This prequel to Of Fire and Stars has a demigod who can dictate the future by writing in her blood. Also, Coulthurst has promised another f/f pairing in this one. Even the blurb mentions that Asra loves a mortal girl, Ina. Consider me excited!
The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco
Releases on: March 6
The sequel to The Bone Witch (which I LOVED)
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Status: On bookshelf
I had started this on a bus ride a year ago, but didn’t get beyond 20 pages because I wanted to set aside time to read this uniquely formatted book. Sadly, that time hasn’t come yet, but since Obsidio (the last book in the trilogy) releases in March, I thought I might as well get reading soon!
I keep seeing Illuminae everywhere, I should really go pick it up! I’ll be interested to see what you think of it.
I loved Illuminae. I hope you get a chance to read all these!
I loved Illuminae! I can’t wait for the last book in the series! I hope you get a chance to read it!
Looks like a great list. Have a great week. – Katie
