Okay so the last month may not have worked out so well, but there are
three four exciting readathons I am looking forward to this month – Tome Topple, The Reading Quest, Bout of Books and ARC August!
[BTW, these aren’t the only readathons happening this month. There are more over at Little Book Owl, where a calendar can help you organize the ones you are interested in!]
Tome Topple (#TomeTopple)
This will actually be my first tome topple as I have always been intimidated by big books, but never had the courage to do them in a readathon.
#TomeTopple was created by @thoughtsontomes and is being held on August 4-17th.
1. Read more than 1 tome
2. Read a graphic novel (still over 500 pages!)
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Buddy read a tome
5. Read an adult novel
I’ll be doing A Feast for Crows to fulfill two of the challenges (taking it light for the first one!) and if I finish I’ll continue with Dance with Dragons to get #1 challenge done too!
The Reading Quest (#TheReadingQuest)
The Reading Quest is being hosted by Aentee of Read at Midnight and this is the first installment of the reading challenge that is going to run from August 13-September 10. . It works like a board game, and you play one or more of four types of characters (Mage, Rogue, Knight or Bard) and earn points via completing challenges on the board. Actually, it is better you go to the sign-up post to get all the details and the bingo sheet.
Credits to CW of Read, Think, Ponder for the character ID card design. These are awesome!
I’ll be playing as a Mage named Ruthsic, which means my path is Fifth Down and my challenges are:
- A book with a one-word title – Starswept
- A book that contains magic – Before She Ignites
- A book based on mythology – Thin Places
- A book set in a different world – Wings Unseen
- The first book of a series – Mask of Shadows
Bout Of Books 20 (#BoutOfBooks)
Created by Amanda Shofner, this week-long readathon will run from August 21-27 and happens frequently throughout the year. It is low-pressure, really – set your own goals and just read as much as you can for a whole week. I’m setting my goals at 5 books, with this being my 6th bout of books.
5th Annual ARC August (#ARCAugust)
Hosted by Read, Sleep, Repeat, it is a month-long readathon for – you guessed it right – ARCs. I am mostly going to let it intersect with the previous challenges. With the exception of A Feast of Crows, all the books mentioned above are galleys that I have and therefore, it fits perfectly with this challenge.
Which of these reading challenges are you participating or interested in?
