Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer
This week’s question is:
What is your preferred format for reviews? Do you tell the story or do you focus on characters and the reason someone would like the review?
Depends on the book and genre.
A standard review of mine would be – I introduce the story, then talk about the character arcs, then technical details like writing style, world-building, etc. I do mention what were my thoughts on the ending. I sometimes go into my take on the book while explaining the story itself, particularly if I’m ranting. For dystopia, I focus on world-building. For fantasy, on how unique it is. Contemporary, I go for character arcs. Sci-fi, particularly ones based on biological themes, I go into how it compares with the real scenario and plausibility of such a thing to occur. Basically, each review is a snowflake 😀
