Review: Teen Titans Go! Vol. 1

Teen Titans Go! Vol. 1
Teen Titans Go! Vol. 1 by Sholly Fisch
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Based on the hit TV show, feast your eyes on this all-new, all-ages comic book series! Join Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Raven as they display their unique brand of hijinks, mayhem and justice! But giant pizza monsters aren’t the only dastardly and delicious villains on the menu… so dig in, Titans!

Recommended for fans of the Teen Titans, this graphic novel collects short stories of their various adventures, including a party scenario, a bet in golf, a slumber party, a reality show, among others. The artwork is from the show Teen Titans Go! (which in my opinion was a step down from the original Teen Titans) which means it is more like chibi versions of the characters. It is ridiculously hilarious though, like the scene in which Robin sneezes into Raven’s cloak, or they prank-call the batcave. It is non-stop entertainment, but the character art itself was not sufficient to me (I am strongly attached to the original one so much, I refuse to watch the new show). Overall, great for nostalgia.

Received an ARC from DC Comics via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I do love the original show so much! I did grow to like the new show and watch it. I just felt like this graphic novel repeated the same story lines as the show. It really bummed me out, and I did feel cheated. I think that it’s really uncool to do that. And the character depictions were kind of “meh” too.
I agree with your review! GLAD to see another Titans fan 😀
